I brought this bottle of beer being produced by our local brewer. Usually G.K. brew this at 3.6% ABV but they've boosted it to 5% ABV, and a fine drop of beer it is too.
I would say Abbot Ale followed by Speckled Hen are my fav Greene King beers. I have grown up with IPA and it doesn't feel special as it is so familiar almost akin to tap water in some ways.
Roll on next Bury Beer festival now that was good. perhaps next year an opportunity for bloggers in Suffolk to meet up!!
Buryblue...Old speckled hen is my fav. It has so much flavour, brought a 4 bottle pack today. I drink it from the bottle straight from the fridge. Abbot is to bitter/sour for my liking, but that export IPA was very good at 5%abv.
I was born in Bury St.Edmunds, and lived there all my life. I attended King Edward VI upper school until 1986, where I managed 3 O'levels. Started a college course that september, but quit after 3 months to go and work in a butchers shop. That lasted a year before moving to the company I'm in my 22nd year with now.
I was at work one day and called someone that I knew from the queue, from my local pub, to serve. They didn't at the time know where I worked, so when I said "Hello Steve", they looked up and said "Cashier No.5". So this gets back to the pub, via this guy, and most of the regulars call me that now,
